Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. John15:4
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5;22-23
We have been saved by grace and not by works. Our righteousness is only by grace in Christ and not our work.
This emphasis was laid by Paul epistles to Romans and moreover to the Galatians.
In Galatians chapter 2:21
I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
But by saying this, does Paul mean works amount to nothing? Definitely NO! But what then does he mean?
The only righteousness needed to access God is the righteousness of God Himself which is in Christ and not our own rag righteousness. Every Holy act of the holiest person is just but a rag to God righteousness.
Now what is the place of work? Work is actually the fruit or evidence. Therefore, as we move to Christ, relate with Him as a branch is to a vine we bring forth fruit of His righteousness.
Christ as a vine is full of sap that will definitely produce fruit in all abiding branches. What now happen if a branch is not producing fruit?
1. Either that branch has been cut off by the vine dresser which is God.
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. John5:1
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John15:2
We can see from the above scripture that any believer can lost his/her salvation if refuses to bear fruit.
2. It’s a new branch and need time to bring forth fruit that will be evident. This will definitely be possible if it maintain the relationship.
Its therefore expedient that all in Christ must bear the fruit in Galatians 5:22-23.
As this is the evidence that we are in Christ. Therefore, though we are not saved by works but works are the practical evidence of being save by grace.
Legality is not Christianity! We don’t follow rules but when we maintain our relationship with Christ, His nature in us will definitely produce fruit of righteousness!
Righteousness is not in the good or bad we do but in the nature.
God bless you all
